FAQ’s

What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a powerful natural compound found mainly in the flowers and leaves of hemp plants. Unlike THC, CBD contains no psychoactive ‘high’ and is used to benefit both the body and mind.
How do I use CBD?

CBD can be consumed sublingually, through topical application, inhalation, or ingestion.

To use CBD sublingually, place your desired dosage of drops under your tongue for approximately 30 seconds before swallowing to produce long-lasting effects. This method of CBD consumption is most widely known and is easy to administer specific dosages. Effects should be felt 10 to 15 minutes after consumption.

Topical application is the use of CBD through balms, creams or ointments directly applied to the skin. This method works best for specific affected areas such as joints, sore muscles and skin conditions.

Inhalation (smoking/vaping) of CBD flower allows for the highest concentration of CBD to enter the body. This action provides a fast delivery system to the bloodstream which produces instant effects.

Ingestion of CBD through edible consumption allows for variation in flavors, especially for those who do not enjoy the taste of oils on their own. Unlike sublingual consumption, effects are felt 30 minutes to 2 hours after consumption.

What are the benefits of CBD?

CBD benefits a wide range of conditions, but the most common reasons people use CBD are for:

• Pain
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Sleeping disorders
• Inflammation

The consistent use of CBD as a supplement may also help with conditions such as arthritis, chronic pain, wound healing, scar treatment, cardiovascular diseases, seizures, neurodegeneration, cancer, psychotic symptoms, symptoms of multiple sclerosis, premenstrual syndrome and the stabilization of blood sugar levels.

Is Full Spectrum CBD safe for Animals?
The answer is simple, yes. Full Spectrum CBD activates your pets endocannabinoid system. Studies have shown that trace amounts of THC will not cause THC toxicity in your pet but instead create an ‘entourage effect’ to increase the effectiveness and therefore the medical benefits of CBD. It is each pet owners’ responsibility to dose their pet according to dosage instructions stipulated on the product.
What is the difference between CBD and THC?
Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabidiol (THC) are the most common compounds found in cannabis plants. Both CBD and THC are very similar in their chemical structure but differ in the way they affect the body. THC binds to the receptors in the brain which gives users the euphoric or so-called ‘high’ feeling. CBD does NOT contain any psychoactive high, instead it works in conjunction with various elements in the body to create an overall state of well-being.
What is the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?
Marijuana and hemp are two different varieties of the cannabis plant. Although being different varieties, they contain different concentrations of compounds. Hemp is more formally known for its use in the production of various textiles and rope and has a very high CBD content and less than 1% THC content. In contrast, marijuana has greater levels of THC (up to 35%) which is responsible for users feeling a pyschoactive ‘high’ when consumed. Due to the lower amounts of CBD produced by marijuana varieties, it is not a viable option for the production of CBD products.
What is the difference between Full Spectrum CBD, Broad Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate?

Full Spectrum CBD, or whole plant CBD, is a type of CBD that contains multiple plant extracts/compounds that are naturally occurring in the cannabis plant. These include cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. Full Spectrum CBD contains trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%) which acts on your endocannabinoid system in conjunction with CBD and other compounds to produce the ‘entourage effect’.

Broad Spectrum CBD contains a range of naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant but has 0% THC present. It may not produce as many benefits as full spectrum oils due to the entourage effect but is the best option for users that cannot consume trace amounts of THC.

CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD and contains no trace amounts of other beneficial compounds found in the plant. Isolate may not offer as many health benefits that can be found in full- and broad spectrum CBD products.

We at Sugarleaf recommend full spectrum products as they have the widest range of medical benefits for both humans and animals.

What is the 'Entourage Effect’?
The ‘Entourage Effect’ is a theory that states when all compounds (e.g CBD, THC, CBN, CBG) found in a cannabis plant are taken in conjunction with one another, they produce a greater and longer lasting effect than when compounds are taken individually.
